EFFECTS
VITAMIN K
Vitamin K exists as vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone). Phylloquinone is mainly found in plants, while menaquinone, which appears to be more active, is produced by gut bacteria, and is also found in fermented foods such as sauerkraut and the Japanese fermented soy bean dish Natto.
VITAMIN K2
Vitamin K2 activates a whole series of special proteins which play a role in important metabolic processes, such as calcium transportation and utilisation; blood clotting; cell division, differentiation and migration; and important repair processes in various vessels and organs.
Most organisations do not consider vitamin K1 and K2 separately and, as such, there is not extensive information available on the benefits of vitamin K2 specifically. As such, our statements about vitamin K2 are based on the assumption that K1 and K2 function similarly.

Vitamin K2 exists in different forms, each of which has a different level of efficacy. Vitamin K2 MK7 is today considered by far the most effective form of K2. Since vitamin molecules take different chemical forms (the so-called cis-trans isomers of vitamin K2), there are enormous differences even between different vitamin K2 MK7 active substances. It is believed that only the trans forms can be utilised by the body.

VITAMIN D AND VITAMIN K2
Vitamin D and vitamin K2 are cofactors in the regulation of calcium metabolism. Together, the two vitamins control the formation and breakdown of bone cells and important transport molecules that ensure the correct utilisation of calcium.

DAILY REQUIREMENTS
Although the German Nutrition Society recommends a total intake of at least 70µg vitamin K per day, there are currently no recommendations for vitamin K2 specifically.

Vitamin D
Determing the correct dosage of vitamin D can be very confusing because recommendations vary greatly from organisation to organisation.
For adults, for example, the EU recommends 200 IU but the German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends 800 IU.
However, many researchers and non-profit organisations consider these recommendations too low to prevent a deficiency or even to maintain vitamin D levels.

Vitamin K2 exists in different forms, which have different efficacy. Today, vitamin K2 MK7 is considered by far the most effective form of K2. Even between different vitamin K2 MK7 active ingredients, there are again significant differences, because the molecule of the vitamin occurs in different chemical arrangements - they are called cis- and trans-isomers of vitamin K2. It is assumed that only the trans form can be utilized by the body properly.

MCT carrier oil for optimal protection and better absorption
Vitamin K2 is fat-soluble and can be absorbed by the body only together with fats. For our Sunday Natural vitamin K2 drops, we have therefore selected a particularly high-quality MCT oil based on coconut oil, produced in Germany, as carrier oil. MCT oil hardly decomposes the fat-soluble vitamins in contrast to other carrier oils such as olive oil, making it the best option for optimal active ingredient protection, while the medium-chain fatty acids of the carrier oil also represent a valuable nutrient themselves. To additionally guarantee the active ingredient content, we have our finished drops (i.e. not just the raw materials!) tested by an independent German laboratory.
While capsules and tablets must first dissolve in the body to release the active ingredient, vitamin K2 from oil is already immediately bioavailable in the mouth and can thus be optimally absorbed.
